I Profumi del Marmo: Essences of the soul of Marble

An olfactory journey in the Lands of Marble with their materials which have always been the materials in the world of luxury.

Carrara Marble is a precious stone known throughout the world for its beauty and quality. This stone, extracted from the famous quarries of the Apuan Alps in Tuscany, has a unique white color with greyish veins and is highly appreciated in architecture, sculpture and interior design.

In addition to its aesthetic beauty, Carrara marble gives off a delicate and characteristic scent due to its chemical and mineralogical composition. This subtle aroma is mainly due to the presence of calcite and dolomite, the main minerals that make up marble.

When marble is worked, cut or polished, it releases a light earthy and mineral fragrance that recalls the scents of nature, the mountains and the quarries from which it comes. Many describe this aroma as fresh, clean and almost imperceptible, but at the same time unmistakable for those who know it.

I Profumi del Marmo came about thanks to the successful insight of a young industrialist of Carrrara who wanted to associate the noble material of his land to a series of fragrances that could evoke the kind of memories and emotions that only this territory can convey.

Each essence represents a specific marble quarry and can be recognized by the color and veins of the cap which certifies its origin.

Michelangelo, one of the most renowned artists of the Italian Renaissance, famously used Carrara marble for many of his masterpieces. One of the most famous examples is Michelangelo's sculpture of David. Carved from a single block of Carrara marble, this monumental statue stands over 17 feet tall and is considered one of the greatest masterpieces of Renaissance art. Michelangelo's expert use of Carrara marble allowed him to capture the beauty and strength of the human form in this iconic sculpture.

Michelangelo's use of Carrara marble not only demonstrated his technical mastery as a sculptor but also contributed to the enduring legacy of this luxurious material. Today, Carrara marble continues to be prized by artists, architects, and designers for its timeless beauty and association with the rich artistic heritage of Italy.
